THE BERLIN WALL: SOMETHING TO PONDER
On August 15, 1961, East German Authorities began building the Berlin Wall – a wall designed to cut off all access to the West. For the next 28 years, this “iron curtain” remained . . . dividing Europe.
While not as dramatic, a failure to communicate, or unwillingness to communicate can cause a “divide” to occur.
For intentional reasons, such as a disagreement, spat or dispute or for unintentional reasons, such as distance or a lack of time, people stop talking to each other. With each day that passes, it becomes more awkward, more difficult and harder to restart the conversation and to start communicating again.
One “iron curtain” was enough. Do not let your friendships and relationships become divided by an ‘iron curtain.” Send an e-mail, a letter or pick up the telephone and call just to say “hello” (or use a third party neutral to help you.) It is a wonder how easily a wall can crumble and come down.
